STAFF at Watlington’s doctor’s surgery have complained about “extreme rudeness” from patients unable to get the appointment they want.
Patients are being asked to respect staff at the Chiltern Surgery in Hill Road and Brook Surgery in Chalgrove.
The patient participation group said: “We are very lucky to be able to get appointments at either surgery so readily. Those of you who have lived elsewhere or have friends/relatives living in urban areas will know just how lucky.
“It’s disappointing, therefore, that some patients (we stress some, a small, but not insignificant minority) don’t give receptionists the courtesy and respect they deserve. If there are no appointments when you want them, the GP staff are not making it up.
“Very often the situation is exacerbated by the high number of people who just don’t bother to turn up for the appointment they do have. The level of DNAs (did not attend) is still disappointingly high.
“It is a concern, therefore, how some patients’ disappointment at not being able to get the appointment they want can turn to extreme rudeness and a level of discourtesy which is just unacceptable to all practice staff.”
