THE Henley Standard’s Going for Gold campaign is closing in on the halfway mark.
Seventy-two summer hanging baskets have been sold in the first three weeks of our campaign to boost Henley’s chances of becoming Britain in Bloom champion.
We are urging town centre shops, businesses and residents to buy baskets and beat last year’s record-breaking total of 163.
Henley won the silver gilt in the Royal Horticultural Society national competition last year and this time the town is going for gold. Marisa Francini, a member of Henley in Bloom who co-ordinates the sale of the baskets, is calling for orders to be made within the next 10 days.
She said: “We have doubled last week’s figure and that is absolutely fantastic.
