MARK Ellen and David Hepworth are the Ant and Dec of popular music journalism.
Neither may be a household name but their combined cultural contribution over recent decades has been immense.
As colleagues and business partners the pair oversaw the success of era-defining, and much-loved, publications such as Smash Hits, Q and Word. Both also wrote for the NME, and teamed up on TV to present The Old Grey Whistle Test.
Ostensibly, Hepworth was in Henley last Wednesday to interview Ellen about his autobiography, Rock Stars Stole My Life.
But Mark Ellen is not an author who needs any prompting or coaxing to talk.
