ST BOTOLPH’S church in Swyncombe will hold an open air service next Sunday to mark 100 years since the outbreak of the First World War.
The service will take place at the war memorial in Cookley Green at 10am and will feature a guard of honour from service personnel based at RAF Benson.
Henley MP John Howell will read the lesson while representatives from the Royal British Legion, Thames Valley Police and Swyncombe parish will also attend.
That evening, the church will also host a vigil after its usual choral evensong. The evensong starts at 7pm, after which all candles will be extinguished for several minutes.
The church is inviting anyone from inside or outside the parish to attend both services to mark the centenary.
