Mixed fortunes at tournaments for Henley sides

THE last instalment of the Thames Valley Mini tournament series was held at Reading Hockey Club where the Henley academy fielded four sides.

The oldest and most experienced team, the Antelopes, came up against some strong teams in this U8 age group and won one, drew two and lost one of their matches. The pair of Ben Price and Charlie Rolstone linked up well ably assisted by Connor Botha, Lauren Hilditch and Mia Moore.

The Bears struggled with the larger size of pitch than usual, frequently finding themselves pinned in their own half. However, they defended well with Lucy Herbert and Emilie Dimmestol providing good cover. Ela Chamberlain and William Arthur had some forays into opposition territory which unfortunately came to nothing, leaving the Bears goalless and with four losses on the day.

The Cheetahs competed well in their three matches played where they won one, drew one and lost one.

Freddie Formon got himself on to the score sheet while Sam Phillips showed good stick skills and Alicia Bennett showed improvement since her first tournament.
