HENLEY 2nds ran out narrow winners away to MBBO Division 2 basement side Amersham and Chalfont 2nds on Saturday.

Employing an attacking line-up, Henley started brightly. Although the visitors dominated possession in the first half and had a large number of chances, only Harmer found the net. Pollard combined well with the pace of Wood and Maidlow, who provided the through-pass for Harmer to latch on to, stroking the ball past the keeper.

Henley doubled their lead when Wood streaked past defenders to feed Measures with the ball in the D and Measures duly obliged with a good strike into the backboard.

Although Henley dominated the opening clashes of the second half, Amersham rallied to score a simple goal from a penalty corner. Henley restored their two-goal advantage when Maidlow pounced on an Amersham back-pass, to coolly slot the ball past the keeper.

Some frustration in the Amersham ranks was channelled through over-eager challenges towards the end of the game.

Henley conceded late on, during a five-minute sin-bin spell for Austin but the visitors held on to secure all three points.
