HENLEY GIRLS U14s ran out winners at home to Phoenix and Ranelagh in a match played
HENLEY GIRLS U14s ran out winners at home to Phoenix and Ranelagh in a match played over three thirds.
Henley opened the scoring early on through Meg Hearn before Phoenix responded almost immediately to equalise.
Before the first third was over Gracie Newbold had forced in Henley’s second. Henley played tightly in the centre of the pitch but failed to utilise the space out wide as they have done so effectively in recent matches.
In the second third the majority of play was between the two 23 metre areas with little penetration into either circle.
The final third saw Henley raise their game as they switched play and made full use of the whole pitch. Wendy McLoughlin’s tenacity in front of goal resulted in her scoring twice.
