Five-star Jefferies helps put Henley side in seventh heaven

FLIC JEFFERIES scored five goals as Henley Ladies 2nds moved up the league table last

FLIC JEFFERIES scored five goals as Henley Ladies 2nds moved up the league table last Saturday thanks for a 6-2 win at Witney 2nds.

The visitors, fielding a strong team boosted by the return of goalkeeper Maddy Teebo, got off to a good start with the shot stopper pulling off several good early saves.

Rachel Herbert, in the centre of defence, was able to find the space to spray the ball around and repeatedly found forwards Esme Emmett, who netted twice, and Jeffries who linked up on a number of occasions to play the ball around the keeper and slot the ball home from various positions within the circle.

Henley were able to keep their defence tight and despite giving away a number of penalty corners — ably defended by the pace of Rosie Kemp and the shot blocking tackles of Karen Walker — were able to keep Witney at bay.

Despite the win Henley remain at the foot of the Premier Division 2 table in the Trysports Three Counties League with just four matches of the season remaining.
