A TOILET seat was among items found in the annual clean-up of Crazies Hill.
Dozens of volunteers, including six children, spent Saturday morning clearing rubbish from verges and fields around the village.
They filled seven bags of rubbish during the event, which was one of many across Wokingham borough organised by the council.
Dave Smith, of Crazies Hill and Cockpole Green Residents’ Association, said: “It was great to see so many people, both young and old, who care about our community. The good news is the amount of rubbish collected did seem to be down on previous years.
“Hopefully, this means people are more aware of their environment and are making an effort to keep our hamlets clean and tidy.
“The prize for the strangest object collected goes to a toilet seat.
“Why anyone should wish to dump such an object in the verge is a mystery.
“We did not inspect the seat too closely to determine whether it had been used!”
