BIN collection days in South Oxfordshire will change over Christmas and New Year.
Collections will take place two days later than usual. For example, if your normal collection day would be Monday, December 25, it will now take place next Wednesday.
If your normal collection day would be Monday, January 1, it will now be on Wednesday, January 3.
For the week commencing Monday, January 8, collections will take place a day later than usual.
The schedule will return to normal from Monday, January 15.
Garden waste collections have been suspended so the council’s contractor, Biffa, can concentrate on Christmas collections.
Garden waste collections will resume on either January 9 or the week commencing January 15, depending on your next scheduled collection.
All bins must be fully closed with their lids shut. If you have extra recycling, residents should put it out in a cardboard box or a clear plastic bag and place it by your green bin on your next recycling collection day.
Any extra rubbish that doesn’t fit into your closed black bin must be put it in the next rubbish collection or taken to a household waste recycling centre.
If you don’t want to keep a cardboard box, please flatten it and put it in your recycling bin or beside your recycling bin when you put it out for collection.
Paper packaging, such as cards and envelopes, can be recycled as long as they don’t have glitter on them. If they do, they should be put in your black general rubbish bin.
Reading Borough Council says collections in Caversham and Emmer Green will be two days later than normal next week and a day later the following week. For the week commencing January 8, collections will be a day later and they will return to normal from January 15.
Wokingham Borough Council says its crews will be working on Saturdays, December, 30, January 6 and January 13 and starting earlier at 5.30am. Residents are advised to put out their waste the night before to avoid being missed.
From December 25 to 29, rubbish will be collected two working days after the scheduled date. From January 1 to 5, rubbish will be collected two days after its scheduled date, including on Saturday.
From January 8 to 12, rubbish will be collected the day after its scheduled date. Normal collections will resume from Monday, January 15.
Christmas trees can be dropped off for recycling at garden centres and parks as follows: The Tree Barn, Christmas Common (Last day January 6); Toad Hall, Marlow Road, Henley (January 6); Brightwell Baldwin village playing fields at Upperton recreation field gate (January 9); car park adjacent to the recreation area on Common Road, Ewelme (January 9); recreation ground, Shirburn Road, Watlington (January 9); Gardiner recreation ground and Rectory Garden, Goring (January 11); Goring Heath parish hall car park, Whitchurch Hill (January 11); Mapledurham playing fields, Caversham Heights, and Clayfield Copse, Emmer Green (from January 4 to January 26).
