A COMMUNITY litter picking event will be held in Henley next month.
The annual Great Henley Sack Race will take place on Sunday, March 22, from 2pm to 4pm, starting at the Town Hall, in Market Place.
Participants will take to the town’s streets, parks and pathways armed with sacks and litter pickers, collecting rubbish in a focused, two-hour community clean-up, designed to enhance the beauty and ambiance of the town.
A spokeswoman for Henley Town Council said: “This event should promise another inspiring day of community spirit, environmental action and local pride.
“Last year, about 200 residents of all ages took part to make a visible difference across the town. Volunteers described the event as energetic, uplifting and a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when the community works together.
“Whether you are a seasoned volunteer or taking part for the first time, everyone is encouraged to sign up and be part of this positive community event. Just two hours can make a remarkable difference.”
A spokesman for The Henley Society said: “We are delighted to once again support the excellent Great Henley Sack Race event.
“We fully support any initiative that improves the ambience of Henley, and we cannot think of a better way of promoting public participation than this concentrated two-hour litter pick.”
All equipment will be provided, and guidance will be available if needed. Registration for the event will open at 1.30pm on the day.
