Traders’ association loyalty card wins retail innovation award

A GROUP of local business people has won a prestigious Reading Retail Award.
The Caversham Traders’ Association won in the category of Best Promotional Initiative for their Caversham Rewards loyalty card scheme.
The Reading Retail Awards have been running for five years, and this is the first time that a group entry has ever been put forward. A panel of independent judges assessed the shortlisted entries, and the winner was announced at an awards ceremony at the Hilton Hotel.
Jude Chapman, association vice-chairman and a member of the sub-committee that launched the scheme, said: “The association is all about doing everything possible to keep trade local.
“Having secured sponsorship from Bina Tandoori, St Martin’s Centre and Nationwide, we launched the Caversham Rewards card last November, with 20 businesses immediately joining up to offer discounts to cardholders. That number is now nearing 40. We have almost 1,000 card holders too. That means 1,000 people with even more of an incentive to shop, dine and use professional services here in Caversham! I am the owner of a Caversham-based business myself, and am seeing more and more customers using their Caversham Rewards cards in my store to get their loyalty discount.”
