Reunion of grammar school 'babies'

Reunion of grammar school 'babies'

Sir, — I held a small reunion in June of some pupils from Henley Grammar School.

We all joined the school in 1973 and were always the “babies” — we were the last year before it became The Henley College, so I guess we all felt pretty special.

I also invited our French teacher Ian Johnston, who hasn’t aged a bit!

We had great fun and it was such a hoot sharing stories and memories from the “old days”.

Seven of us have stayed good friends and for the last 32 years we have enjoyed an annual supper every single year just before Christmas. Then, by complete chance, I bumped into two more pupils this year — Lynne Edwards and Jane Kingdom. It was super to see them both after so long.

I’d love to hear from anyone else (pupils or teachers) who was in our year as I’m planning another reunion in 2017 and, if things go well, it could become an annual event. You can email me at — Yours faithfully,

Lynn Hart (née Hurlstone)
