Who saved this old pudding stone?

Who saved this old pudding stone?

Sir, — There is a pudding stone in the little garden between Gravel Hill and the top of West Street.

I wonder whether any of your readers knows whether this is one of the boundary marker stones which are shown on our earlier town maps.

Two of these stones were located in the middle of what is now King’s Road car park, still shown on the 1925 Ordnance Survey map. I remember vaguely hearing that one of these stones was saved when the present car park was laid out and moved to its present location but cannot remember by whom it was saved nor anything else about this.

Can any of your readers help with this? — Yours faithfully,
