What a delight without all the traffic

Sir, — What an absolute delight it was to be in Henley after the lorry spilled potato waste by the bridge on Wednesday morning last week and to experience a traffic-free town centre. The peace and quiet was wonderful.

I live on the busy Reading Road with traffic almost continuous during the day and often long for a traffic-free environment. My grandmother once told me she could remember seeing the very first motor car that drove through Henley.

It must have been idyllic back then without the constant flow of traffic and noise which we experience today. — Yours faithfully,
