Checkendon Primary School will host a laser show in place of a traditional bonfire night next Friday.
The event, from 6pm to 8pm, has been organised by the school’s parent teacher association.
It is aimed to be a fully inclusive and pet-friendly alternative to traditional fireworks.
A spokeswoman said: “This is a brand-new, family-friendly fundraiser designed to offer all the sparkle and excitement of fireworks, without the loud bangs. It’s a fully inclusive and pet-friendly alternative — perfect for our countryside community, where traditional fireworks can be stressful for animals and some residents.
“The event will raise much-needed funds for the primary school.”
