A taste of life as a Roman soldier

WALLINGFORD Museum has put together a Living History display to show the equipment Roman legions used

WALLINGFORD Museum has put together a Living History display to show the equipment Roman legions used for body armour, weapons, pottery, clothing, boots and even the skin cleaning strigil tool.

Roman expert John Smith will present short talks on why the Roman Army came to Oxfordshire and Wallingford, at the Museum next Friday (April 10) from 2pm to 5pm.

Children will receive a Latin diploma.

Entry is by museum ticket at £4 per adult (which gives unlimited entry until November 28), accompanied children are free.

Next Saturday local historian and Museum curator Judy Dewey will lead a guided castle history walk at 11am followed by a town history walk at 2.30pm.



Each lasts about two hours, starts at the museum, and costs £5.
