READING Operatic Society is looking for performers to join them in a production of Hairspray at The Hexagon from September 23 to 26.
Hairspray is a musical that touches on the topics of prejudice due to race, weight and background, with the uplifting message that anything is possible if you follow your heart.
Black and white actors and actresses aged 16 and over are needed for principal and chorus roles to reflect the show’s serious message about diversity and racial integration in Sixties America.
Do you have a secret ambition to play the now infamous part of Edna Turnblad? Are you interested in auditioning for her effervescent daughter Tracy, talented dancer Seawood Stubbs or maybe Motormouth Maybelle?
Alternatively you may prefer to sing and dance your way through the lively numbers as part of the chorus.
If you can dance, sing or act then come to our workshops on Monday and Thursday at Earley St Peter’s Church Hall, Church Road, Earley, Reading.
Auditions are at the same place from 2pm on Sunday, May 17. See www.readingops.co.uk for more details.
