A PRODUCTION of Thomas Hardy’s story Tess of the d’Urbervilles is coming to Progress Theatre in Reading next week.

Adapted by David Calcutt, set in the Victorian era, the story follows Tess, whose life changes when her alcoholic father discovers they have aristocratic ancestry.

However, Tess is subsequently betrayed by her lover and her tragedy is reflected in the cycles of the seasons and the natural world.

The show runs from Monday, November 24 to Saturday, November 29 with shows at 7.45pm and a 2.30pm Saturday matinée. There is a relaxed performance on the Tuesday and there will be British Sign Language interpretation on the Wednesday.
