Viols in concert

MUSIC from the court of Charles I and II will be played at a concert in Streatley.

All The King’s Men, performed by Chelys Consort of Viols, includes music by Henry Purcell, organist on Charles II’s chapel and at Westminster Abbey, Matthew Locke, his predecessor, and Charles I’s favourite William Lawes.

The group is made up of young professionals who trained at Trinity College of Music and the Royal Academy. Viols were popular in england during the reign of both Charles I and II.
