THE winter folk music season continues at the Nettlebed Club on Monday with a gig by The Churchfitters. This “flamboyant” band is made up by musicians from England, Ireland and France.
Mike Sanderson, of the club, said the band is taking UK audiences by storm.
He said: “They are unique and energetic, and they present a fast-paced infectious show with fresh, original songwriting as well as re-arranged songs and tunes from the British Isles.
“Their vocals are outstanding and they have an astonishing array of acoustic instruments including fiddle, double bass, bouzouki, flute, saxophone, guitar, banjo, dulcimer, whistle and mandolin.”
Dave Pegg, of Fairport Convention, added his own endorsement.
He said: “I knew as soon as I saw Boris’s range of instruments that the Churchfitters were going to be interesting. However, on watching their set I can honestly say that they are the most musically inventive quartet that I have seen in decades. They received a standing ovation from the Copredy Festival.”
The gig takes place at Nettlebed Village Club on Monday, February 4 at 8pm. Box office: 01628 636620 or visit www.nettlebedfolkclub.co.uk
