Caversham chamber music night

A CONCERT celebrating the work of Mozart, Brahms and Gershwin will take place at St Andrew’s Church in Albert Road

A CONCERT celebrating the work of Mozart, Brahms and Gershwin will take place at St Andrew’s Church in Albert Road next Saturday (March 16). It will feature violinist Xuan Du, who directed the Caversham Ensemble in the Christmas Concert, and pianist Adrienne Black.

The programme will also include Sarasate’s Carmen Fantasy based on themes from the opera and works by Tchaikovsky.

This will be the 10th concert staged at the church by Concerts in Caversham, which was founded in summer 2010 following the purchase of a reconditioned August Forster grand piano by the church.

This was to enable the church and neighbouring church hall to be used for more artistic events including art exhibitions, concerts and a film club. There is also a café, the Fisherman, which is open every Thursday from 2pm to 6pm.

Spokeswoman Jane Pares said: “This is a great opportunity to hear professional musicians without having to travel to London.”

For tickets call 0118 948 4112 or 0118 946 3202.
