A SELECTION of music from French and English composers makes up the repertoire for a candlelit concert at St Barnabas’ Church in Emmer Green on Saturday, November 30.
Tapestry, a 15-piece all-female choir, will feature pieces by Poulenc, Fauré and Elgar, as well as folk songs and carols.
At the heart of the programme is Fauré’s Messe Basse, a piece for organ and female voices written in 1881. This is a short mass containing only the Kyrie, Sanctus, Benedictus and Agnus Dei. The piece hints at Fauré’s Requiem, written just seven years later.
At the end of the concert a collection will take place in aid of the St Barnabas Organ Restoration fund. The concert starts at 8pm.
