Jeff Lloyd hosts the latest The Vinyl Frontier evening of music, trivia and chat on the album The Stone Roses tonight (Friday, 8pm), and tomorrow you can embark on a musical journey in Gypsy Fire â?? Acoustic Spectacular, which combines breathtaking musical performances with an otherworldly theatrical ambience provided by a narrator and four musicians.

Comedian Robin Ince tries to work out how much free will anyone can have in his show, Blooming Buzzing Confusion, on Sunday, and on Tuesday European Arts Company presents Oscar Wilde’s The Picture of Dorian Gray, about a narcissistic young man who becomes infatuated by an exquisite portrait of himself.

Singer-songwriter-guitarist Ralph McTell will entertain on Wednesday and the following day there will be more folk music from The Willows.

Immerse you and your children into the Big Red Bath next Friday (May 15) and Saturday during the daytime before enjoying Spring into Jazz with Gordon Campbell next Friday at 8pm.

The St John’s Chamber Orchestra Summer Concert takes place next Saturday at 8pm.

Alex Horne: Edinburgh Preview is planned for Thursday, May 21, and tribute band The Alter Eagles swoop in the next day, with a live screening of the Eurovision Song Contest to follow on Saturday, May 23.

Spend An Evening with the War Poets on Tuesday, May 26, and jazz up Thursday, May 28 with Hailey Tuck, before Paul Lamb and the King Snakes slide in for some rhythm and blues the next day.

May’s live shows end on Saturday 30 with stand-up comedy from Lucy Beaumont — We Can Twerk it Out.
