Orchestra to mark Ian’s 70th

THE Henley Symphony Orchestra will open its 46th season on Sunday, November 8, with a special

THE Henley Symphony Orchestra will open its 46th season on Sunday, November 8, with a special celebration.

This will mark the 70th birthday of Ian Brown, the celebrated pianist, chamber musician and conductor, who has been musical director of the orchestra since 1995.

The 7.30pm concert at the Hexagon, Reading, will see Brown perform Beethoven’s

Piano Concerto No 1
. He will then conduct Sibelius’s popular

Symphony No 2
.



The first half of the concert, featuring the overture to Weber’s

Der Freischutz,
will be conducted by Christopher Walker.
