Music fans are spoilt for choice

FANS of live music are spoilt for choice this week, with performances taking place left, right and centre

FANS of live music are spoilt for choice this week, with performances taking place left, right and centre — some more locally than others.

Tomorrow afternoon (Saturday), Reading’s acclaimed Witt Morgan Chorus will be performing carols outside Marks and Spencer in Broad Street from 4.30pm to 6pm in aid of the Samaritans.

At 8pm, Wargrave-based singer-songwriter Charlie Dore is playing the Hat Club in Beaconsfield — a small monthly acoustic club held at the squash club in Shepherds Lane. Tickets are £10. The following afternoon, David Lobban will be playing the Allen theatre organ at a concert organised by the Henley & District Theatre Organ Trust.

The show starts at 3pm at Henley town hall in Market Place. Entry is £7 with concessions £6.50. Doors open at 2pm.

On Tuesday, Henley’s Megan Henwoood is supporting Roddy Frame of Aztec Camera fame at London’s Cadogan Hall. Tickets are £27.50, available from www.cadoganhall.com
