Mass in B minor for the first time in its 40-year history tomorrow night (Saturday).
The concert is the group’s first of 2016 and will be conducted by music director Roy Raby in the Falkland Islands Memorial Chapel at Pangbourne College.
It sees the return of three talented young soloists — Hannah Davey (soprano), Nicholas Smith (tenor), and Henry Neil (bass). Making his debut is countertenor William Purefoy. All four soloists have distinguished international careers.
Roy Raby will conduct the Canzona Chamber Orchestra — one of England’s leading ensembles specialising in the performance of baroque music on period instruments.
Pangbourne Choral Society chairman Diana Smith said: “To sing the
Mass in B minor is the pinnacle for any choral group. We are thrilled to be doing it and really looking forward to the concert.”
The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £15 for adults and £8 for anyone aged 18 and under, available from Garlands Organic in Reading Road, Pangbourne, or www.wegottickets.com/event/348720
