HAILED as one of the UK’s most gifted and versatile musicians in any genre, John McCusker is bringing his 25th anniversary show to Nettlebed Village Club on Monday.

A previous “instrumentalist of the year” winner at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, John has been a member of former Dire Straits frontman Mark Knopfler’s band since 2008 — a gig that has seen him play arenas worldwide.

Tickets for Monday’s show, which start at 8pm are £15 in advance and can be booked by calling 01628 63660 or visiting www.nettlebedfolkclub.co.uk

Local favourites the Tom Michell Trio will be supported by London-based singer-songwriter Tom Butler. For full details, visit www.twitter.com and search for “@IAM_Henley”.

On Saturday night at 7.30pm, a spring concert is being held at St John the Baptist Church in Gosbrook Road, Caversham. The programme includes classical music and tunes from films and shows. Tickets, including refreshments, are priced £10 from 0118 947 5120 and on the door.

A final reminder — tonight (Friday) the annual Shiplake College Chamber Choir and Scholars’ Concert takes place at the Christ Church Centre in Reading Road, Henley, from 7.30pm. Admission is free.
