THE victim of an ongoing murder investigation in Henley has been identified as Jennifer Symonds.
Thames Valley Police were called to Phyllis Court Drive at 7.50am on Friday, March 6 where the 44-year-old, who lived in Henley, was discovered.
Nelio Gouveia, aged 44 of Phyllis Court Drive, has been charged with murder and appeared at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court yesterday (March 9).
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Oxford Crown Court tomorrow (Wednesday) for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
A post-mortem carried out on Ms Symonds on Sunday concluded that the cause of death was drowning. Police confirmed the victim’s family has been notified and are being supported by specially trained officers.
A significant police presence could be seen on the grounds of Phyllis Court Club on Friday, where a cordon was put in place as police shut off access to the towpath and asked rowers not to pass.
Police have said they are not looking for anyone else in connection to the investigation.
Phyllis Court Club re-opened this morning (March 10) after it closed its clubhouse, fitness centre and grounds on Friday.
