Kirk McIntyre — February 20, 1985 – August 23, 2024

Kirk McIntyre — February 20, 1985 – August 23, 2024

KIRK Philip Harold McIntyre passed away of natural causes at the age of 39 years on the morning of August 23.

He was a father to Orla, 15, a son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle and cousin.

Kirk was through and through a Watlington lad, born on February 20, 1985 in the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford to Susan and Philip McIntyre.

He attended Watlington Primary School and then Icknield College for his secondary education. When he left Icknield he went to work with Milner and Son and started an apprenticeship, then worked in the family business, McIntyre Leisure Services, where he would travel all round the country as a leisure service engineer for swimming pools, saunas and steam rooms for commercial installations.

Kirk was buried on September 27 at St Leonard’s Church in Watlington when there was an overwhelming attendance of more than 350 people, which was a testament to his generous, humorous and loving personality.

After the funeral there was a celebration of Kirk’s relatively short life at the pavilion in the sports grounds in Watlington. The family would like to say a big thank-you to all his and our friends with helping to arrange the marquee, the making of cakes, teas and coffees, music and also a thank-you to the bar staff.

As Kirk was a diabetic from the age of eight, donations were made to Diabetes UK and by November the funds raised had reached £2,285.

Donations are still open at Surman & Horwood Funeral services. Just type McIntyre in the searchbar at surmanandhorwood.com.
