Microchipping a pet brings many benefits — most of all peace of mind, since there is a much higher chance of reunification with your pet should they be lost, stolen or injured. Added to this the cost savings to local authorities in the kennelling of strays, and the ability to identify with certainty repeat offenders amongst the dog population are other benefits.

Recently the government announced the introduction of compulsory microchipping for all dogs from April 6, 2016.

As a spokesman for the Veterinary Centre in Henley said: “Microchipping seems unequivocally the sensible thing to do.”
