ALMOST 1,000 people from Henley contacted the Financial Ombudsman Service last year, a 58 per cent increase on the previous year.
Exactly 554 out of the 930 complaints required investigation, up from 327.
Henley MP John Howell said: “The largest part of the increase relates to complaints about mis-sold payment protection insurance. I understand the concern this has raised and applaud people for taking it up.”
He said that about 58 per cent of Henley complaints were upheld and the complainants were entitled to compensation.
