New Labour Party candidate for Henley

A GOVERNOR at The Henley College has been chosen as the Labour Party candidate for the Henley constituency at the next general election.

Sam Juthani, a professional economist who works in Oxford, will challenge the seat currently held by John Howell, who has already been chosen as the Conservative candidate.

Mr Juthani, who used to work for the Treasury, was seelected at a meeting of the Henley Labour Party in Benson on Saturday. He has a bachelor’s degree in politics, philosophy and economics from Oxford University and a master’s degree in economics of public policy from the Barcelona Graduate School of Economics. He is also a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and part of the Global Shapers Community in the World Economic Forum.

Mr Juthani said: “Henley is a fantastic constituency. I am proud and excited to be standing for the Labour Party here and will work across the seat to spread our positive vision for South Oxfordshire.

“I will stand up for the ordinary people of Henley and support vital public services that are suffering from government cuts.”
