Prospective councillor - Elizabeth Hodgkin

I AM married to Richard and our growing family takes up a lot of our spare

I AM married to Richard and our growing family takes up a lot of our spare time but in between I enjoy singing in local choirs and am a church– warden of St Nicholas’, Greys.  I help to organise the annual choir festival which raises funds for local charities.

I work as a self–employed secretary.  I have served and supported many organisations including the Citizens Advice Bureau, the Over–60s Club, Nomad, the Eyot Centre, Henley Youth Centre and Henley Municipal Charities.  I am a trustee of the Thamesfield Youth Association and Henley Educational Charity and am social secretary and past president of the Town and Visitors’ Regatta. Having lived in Henley most of my life, I would not wish to be anywhere else.

I have been a town councillor since 2003 and a district councillor since 2010. I served as mayor in 2009/10 and 2012/13 and there were many highlights.  Over the past 12 years I have been chairman of many town council committees, including town and community, Mill Meadows, Christmas Festival and Henley in Bloom. It has been a great pleasure to revitalise Henley’s bid in Britain in Bloom and there have been notable successes.

I also run the Gardening Buddies and I instigated the HIT Litter campaign.
