I AM a local man, having lived in the constituency with my family for more than 20 years and having been involved with the community in a number of ways.
Since being elected to Parliament in 2008, I have held a central role as parliamentary private secretary to successive leaders of the House of Commons and have served as a member of the justice select committee.
Prior to my election, I was a county councillor and a parish councillor, so have a solid understanding and appreciation of local concerns and issues.
From humble beginnings, I have had a national and international career in business and broadcasting. This combination of experience has given me a valuable platform for my work representing others; work for which I have a proven track record.
I have taken local issues to Westminster and raised them with ministers. I have also actively raised local concerns with relevant organisations to get answers and action.
This has included holding public meetings on aircraft noise over Henley, working for a new branch rail users group and for disabled facilities at Goring and Streatley station. I have worked with communities on traffic issues (and HGVs) and with local businesses on business rates. I have been a strong campaigner for Townlands Hospital and for a consultation on the latest plans.
I am seeking support at this election to enable me to continue to campaign on such local issues and also to represent constituents on national issues at Westminster.
