Aircraft noise meeting set

STEPS to tackle aircraft noise over Henley will be discussed at a public meeting next week.

STEPS to tackle aircraft noise over Henley will be discussed at a public meeting next week.

Henley MP John Howell will host the meeting at the Christ Church Centre in Reading Road on Thursday, starting at 7pm.

Last year Mr Howell called on the Government to tackle the “unacceptable” level of noise caused by aircraft over Henley on their approach to Heathrow airport.

He met Robert Goodwill, the minister of transport responsible for aircraft, together with MPs John Redwood and Dr Phillip Lee, who represent Wokingham and Bracknell respectively.

The MPs said the aircraft approaches to Heathrow on an easterly wind had been changed without public consultation and that the height of incoming aircraft was a major factor which increased noise for people on the ground.
