Revealed: ‘What’s on’ at house and garden show

THE programme has been published for the 2019 Henley House and Garden Show on the weekend of March 2 and 3.

The first of three ticketed events is the Dream Home Expert Panel at 2pm on the Saturday, hosted by Lizzie Hughes of Mama Do.

Visitors are invited to bring their architectural plans and talk through any issues or questions they may have regarding interiors, gardens and sustainability.

Later, at 3.15pm, paint and colour expert Annie Sloan will be giving a talk on her world-famous chalk paints and painting techniques.

On Sunday at 3pm, Jay Blades, of BBC Two’s Repair Shop, will be in discussions with Jonty Hearnden of Cash in the Attic and Henley’s own eco-warrior Lynne Lambourne.

Together they will give an upcycling masterclass — offering three different perspectives on upcycling, antiques and furniture restoration.

In addition to the ticketed events there will be a large number of other free activities and demonstrations going on over the weekend.

Saturday’s free events include lampshade-making, ceramics, painting, several flash mob appearances and a life drawing session overseen by the Henley School of Art.

On the Sunday, free events range from painting to ceramics and candle-making. For children, there will be a Lego Master Builders Club workshop in the Over 60s Club in the Greys Road car park between 10am and 12pm on Saturday and 1.45pm and 3.45pm on Sunday, with tickets priced £15.40 per child.

The Henley House and Garden Show is a coming together of a wide range of professionals, artisans and designers who are involved in the home and gardening sector.

Show organiser and interior designer Niki Schäfer said: “We have a great selection of speakers to choose from at this year’s Henley House and Garden Show, and I’m truly grateful to the speakers and hosts who are giving their time and expertise.

“All funds raised will go towards the development of the garden at the Chiltern Centre for disabled children.”

This show’s opening hours are 10am to 6pm on Saturday, March 2, and 10am to 4pm on Sunday, March 3.

Over the course of the weekend, the show’s stalls, talks, workshops and activities will take place across Henley town hall and in a specially erected marquee in Market Place.

Tickets for the ticketed events are priced £5. For more information on the weekend’s activities and exhibitors, or to book, visit the show online at www.
