Family home near river finally on the market
MEDMENHAM Gate is a charming and historic Grade II-listed house dating back to the 16th century situated in a picturesque and secluded setting on a lane leading down to the River Thames.

The house was once home to lace makers at a time when lace was the predominant trade in nearby Marlow.

The oldest part of the timber-framed brick-and-flint building has an elegant Queen Anne style front which was added in the 18th century.

The house fronts woodland which once formed the Wittington Water Gardens and the “gate” in its name derives from the days when the property was gatehouse to the entrance of the Wittington Estate.

The gates themselves were erected by Lord Davenport, Hudson Ewband Kierley, of Hudson Soap renown and whose initials appear on the front façade of the house and within the wrought ironwork of the gates (which are also listed).
