THE Bulls’ first home fixture since Christmas turned out to be a toe-to-toe encounter against a side that had beaten a much less experienced Bulls in their away match in the autumn with a convincing 44-0 thrashing.
The Bulls are enjoying a late surge up the Zoo shield table with the inclusion of some experienced personnel.
A first half littered with penalties against the Bulls allowed the Raiders an earlier foothold. They took the lead through a penalty and extended this with a chargedown try on a clearing kick by Guy Swadling which was converted, giving the visitors a 10-0 lead.
The Bulls soon responded with Martin Nutt maintaining his width to outflank the Raiders’ centres and reduce the deficit. Captain Simon Perry added his 12th try of the season shortly afterwards and Swadling added the conversion to give the Bulls a 12-10 lead.
