Physical challenge brings Hawks down

HENLEY travelled to AMPTHILL for a double header in their last pre-season fixture, writes Noel Armstead.

THE BULLS kicked off with a convincing 54-19 victory, scoring 10 tries, over AMPTHILL 2nd XV whilst THE HAWKS went down 40 - 24 in the first team encounter.

THE HAWKS quickly found that this was probably the most robust team they had met in recent games.

This not only applied to their forwards who included a second row Tongan international but also to their straight running backs, particularly at inside centre.

The Hawks tackled well particularly new props Tom West, who is Wasps dual registered, and Tom Hall.
