SUNDAY was an historic day for Abbey Nuns who won their inaugural league match against Sutton and Epsom at Rose Hill.
Abbey looked dangerous from the kick-off, pressing up quickly on a short kick by Sutton and Epsom and making ground.
Good supporting play saw the hosts make progress up the pitch and a run by Bow was followed up by Stevens who capitalised on a disorganised defensive line to break through and score Abbey’s first try of the game.
A break away try from Chandler showed that her pace was unmatched by the opposition, and the hosts were soon using their speed to their advantage with Chandler scoring a second and fullback Jo Richards also making it around the outside of the defence to score. Abbey’s first forwards try came from M Fowler crashing the ball over the line after a strong team effort in the opposition’s 22.
