Lynch wraps up side’s first win of season
Cheltenham Tigers 22, Henley Hawks Women 27

VISITORS Henley Hawks Women recorded their first Championship South West Division 1 win of the season at Cheltenham Tigers on Sunday.

The Hawks started brightly and with a slight wind behind them pinned the Tigers into their own 22. However, with the Hawks on the attack a clever interception saw the Tigers’ fullback race the length of the field to score.

Consistent pressure and ball retention meant the Hawks were soon able to reply as a well-timed run from second row Tadman broke the first tackle and she galloped over for her maiden score. Lynch duly converted and was then back on the tee again to add a penalty.

The onslaught continued and a loose kick to clear their lines allowed Tomas to gather a bouncing ball, burst through and dive in for her maiden score in Hawks colours. Lynch slotted the conversion and an additional penalty to see the visitors go into the break with a commanding 20-7 lead. Hawks’ Graham went to the bin moments before the half-time whistle.
