Reigning champs shine at 15-a-side festival

CURRENT age group county champions HENLEY U13s hosted a county festival at Dry Leas on Sunday for seven of Oxfordshire’s clubs.

Between the two Henley teams seven matches were played of which five were won and two drawn by the players moving to the 15-a-side game on full size pitches for the first time.

The Henley 2nd team had a tough draw playing against first team opposition and the highlight of the day was their 0-0 draw with Witney. A good defensive performance saw fine breakdown work by Gian Verdding, Christian Oswald and Louis Heard ruin the opposition’s day.

In subsequent matches the Henley 2nd team started to show off their team skills with one passage of play containing 13 off-loads out of the tackle.

The backline started to dominate and in particular Ollie Corbett, Jack Sykes and Seb Marks found plenty of space throughout their fixtures.
