RAF rugby players get some tips from professionals

PLAYERS from RAF Benson’s rugby team were put through their paces by two London Welsh stars.

Alex Davies and Mitch Lees were joined by the club’s community development officers Matt Walsh and Alan Awcock, who also plays for the Exiles’ first team.

They passed on some tips ahead of the base’s RAF Cup semi-final against RAF Brize Norton on Wednesday.

The players were given a crash course in drills, skills work, ball-handling, breakdown efficiency and line-outs before the session was rounded off with a game.

Fl Lt JJ Thomas, who runs the RAF Benson team, said: “A coaching session delivered by professional players is a rare opportunity at this level so the turnout for training was fantastic.
