Abbey turn up the heat to triumph in thriller

Reading Abbey 15 Tadley 13

ABBEY put their disappointing league form behind them to retain the Berkshire Plate after a thrilling contest under the Rosehill lights, writes Mark Hoskins.

There was a fantastic cup final atmosphere at the match, and both sides responded to the occasion with fully committed and intense performances all round.

Tadley began strongly, with Abbey forced to soak up the pressure, as veteran flanker Fungai Mutepfa and No.8 Mike Beckly brought off important early tackles.

As Tadley continued to look dangerous, Abbey centre Arron Ross produced two superb tackles.
