HENLEY Hawks travel to Surrey tomorrow (Saturday) for their latest National 2 East league fixture against Dorking, kick-of 2pm.
Following last weekend’s narrow loss at Canterbury, the fixtures don’t get any easier for Luke Allen’s side as they take on a Dorking outfit who are currently fifth in the league standings with 10 wins and five losses to their name.
The two teams met at Dry Leas back in September and played out an incredible match which saw the Surrey side leading 38-12 on the hour mark, only for Henley to stage a remarkable comeback which fell just short, ultimately losing out 41-36.
Dorking are one of the best attacking teams in the league, and with ex-Leicester Tigers fly half Tom Hardwick pulling the strings, they will undoubtedly need to be at their very best to take the spoils. However, Henley will take some confidence from their victory at The Big Field last January, when they edged a close contest 23-22 thanks to a last minute Max Titchener penalty.
In terms of team news, Henley suffered a couple of late injury blows before last weekend’s game at Canterbury with both influential scrum half Leo Webb, and centre Morgan Macrae both ruled out before kick-off. However, Webb is back in the starting line-up for Dorking, and there is also a welcome return from injury for Will Benning who takes his place amongst the replacements.
The provisional side to face Dorking is as follows: 1 Louis Bailey, 2 Spencer Hayhow, 3 Edem Adablah, 4 Liam Goodison, 5 Ben Elsey, 6 Zack Taylor, 7 Fin Basil, 8 Sam Lunnon, 9 Leo Webb, 10 Max Titchener, 11 Oscar Busby, 12 Jimmy Leach, 13 Callum Jones, 14 Seb Scott, 15 George Wood. Replacements: 16 Nelly Kinniburgh, 17 Moses Fakatou, 18 Will Benning, 19 Scott White, 20 Lailand Gordon.
Elsewhere tomorrow, Henley 2nds travel to Bicester while Henley 3rds make the trip to Milton Keynes, both matches kicking-off at 2pm. On Sunday, Hawks Women host Trojans, kick-off 2pm.
