Hawks Women lose two-year record

Henley Hawks Women 18, Saracens Ladies 2nds 29

NEWLY-PROMOTED Henley Hawks Women lost their first home match for more than two years as Saracens Ladies 2nds triumphed in the Championship South Division on Sunday, the second highest league in the country.

The step up in class was shown by Saracens boasting a recent World Cup French international centre and a first team fullback. Meanwhile the Hawks, playing with most of last season’s squad, were boosted by the addition of Graham, Tadman and Tomas.

Both sides were quickly into their stride but a few early penalties meant the Hawks were pinned back into their 22. Moments later Saracens’ fullback was in from a sweeping move of good line-out ball to score.

The Hawks then mounted a long period of pressure in the opposition half. This time it was the visitors’ turn to give up the penalties and Lynch converted from in front to make it 5-3.
