Irish put to the sword

Henley Vets 63, London Irish Vets 0

HENLEY VETS eased to a comfortable victory against London Irish Vets at Dry Leas. The match was played as a pre-lunch curtain raiser on HOP-IT (Henley Old Players) day prior to the recent Hawks versus Cambridge match in the afternoon.

The Hawks 23-man squad included former captains Steve Barnes, Mark Venner and James Winterbottom and current head coach Peter Davies.

It soon became apparent that the hosts were going to cause the London Irish side some serious issues throughout the game, and the scoreboard ticked over regularly as the Hawks players got used to each other, having last taken the field back in April.

Albeit at a slightly slower pace than of yesteryear, flowing handling moves and strong scrummaging and forward drives were soon in evidence.
