FOLLOWING a successful season for Shiplake College’s 1st XV, George Davis has been invited to train with the Wasps U18 Academy squad with a view to selection for Academy League matches.
Although there is strong competition within the academy for Davis’ natural position of hooker, Wasps are keen to develop his potential as a player.
Tom Howe, Shiplake 1st XV’s top try scorer is also in the squad.
Max Chandler, who captain’s Shiplake’s U16A squad and had a trial at Bristol Grammar School, has been selected for a South West development camp weekend at the end of the month with a view for selection for the U16 South West team.
Shiplake College’s head of rugby, Sam Beckett, said: “It is a real morale-booster for the coaches and fellow players in the college’s teams to see these boys making good progress into a higher levels of rugby.
“Last season George had a tough time with injury and he has set a fine example of what can be achieved with a determined attitude.”
