SHIPLAKE COLLEGE pupil Robbie Cartwright made his debut for the England Independent School Lambs U12 side last week, playing the number eight position, in their game against Rosslyn Park.
In a low-scoring match, the Lambs ran out 12-7 winners. Cartwright was heavily involved in a tense forward battle where scrums were evenly contested and there was little to choose between the packs at the line-out.
Sam Beckett, Shiplake College’s head of rugby, said: “Robbie is an exciting talent for the future and is certainly one to watch. He has a high work-rate and a natural understanding of running rugby. Robbie also brings a physical element of his game which at U12 level can sometimes be nothing short of devastating.”
In May Cartwright will set foot on the hallowed Twickenham turf with his Beaconsfield side who will parade the Land Rover Cup which they won before the Aviva Premiership final in front of a capacity crowd for the second year running.
